Way Back When...

Unbroken Promises

What do you do with the promises unbroken.
Shattered dreams, you leave behind
Empty faith, stays unturned
Crumple hope is discarded
But the unbroken promises,
you must carry with you.

Torn are the pages where love was written
Void are the vases of yesterday's flowers.
Empty are the windows of the heart unmoving.
Gone are the sounds of words unspoken.
But what to do with promises unbroken.

A pledge of love without reservation
A vow of trust that will stand forever
They too are packed away
Stored in boxes
Unbroken promises to carry with you.
