"But, we aren't cat people!!!"
He rubbed up against Sarah on the leg, played with Metro on a stack of hardwood flooring and then followed us all around the store as we remembered we needed an air filter.
Kitty Fever had been transmitted and soon we had a full blown case.
Today at lunchtime, I headed to Wal*Mart for wild bird seed and toothbrushes (strange combo, I know). As I drove back to work, my path takes me pass the Humane Shelter. I turn in the drive and ask to see the kittens.
When I get back to work, I called home and told Sarah what I had done. "I was gonna ask you to go by there, if you had time!"
With the encouragement of a co-worker (Thanks, Amy), I called the Shelter and asked if they would extend their afternoon a few mintues beyond the normal 5 o'clock closing. "Sure, not a problem."
She meowed from the carry box the entire way home. I place her in my old backpack so I could trick/surprise Sarah. But the kitten was having no part of that. Again she screamed "MEOW" - announcing her presence!!!
Sarah started crying!
So let us introduce - Millie!
Metro isn't too sure 'bout this!
Metro really isn't sure 'bout this!!!
Oh, nom, nom, nom!
Laser pointer fun!
Millie Facts:
She was born at the shelter on the day the pack of dogs killed our chickens (October 13)
She has never touch the ground
Her mother was being adopted at the same time I was there to do the paper work for Millie
I've got one question: Why does it cost more for a cat to pee and poop than it does to eat?

Metro Monday
It was hot (mid 90's) and sunny on Friday afternoon and Saturday. We prepared ourselves with extra fluids. We had been just pouring Metro's water into a stray plate or tray. But we wanted him to have a go to place for his water at the Cabin. As I was grabbing water, fruit juice, Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero, I placed a small metal container in the bag.

Porch Puppy
Because he was too cute... just sitting there as we gathered the tools and put away fishing rods. He knows by our actions that it is time to head back to the house. Metro is so in tuned to our routines. He know when I grab my keys and put on my shoes that we are going outside for a while. He know when I pick up my backpack, I'm going to work. He will wait at the back door for me in the afternoon. Sarah says Metro will camp out about 30 minutes before I arrive.
We are amazed by Metro and the ways he patterns his ways with ours.
Metro let's us know when to open the door for him. If his food bowl is empty (he free feeds), then he will stand by the kitchen and bark. If we are not in bed by 11:30, he will whine and moan - telling us it is beyond our bedtime.
It is often said, "We do not train our dogs, but they train us."

Metro Monday
The photo above is the new bag of Metro's food taken on March 2nd. Today he is down to the last couple of quarts from that bag. That will be enough to feed him until the end of this week. So what I had predicted would last him 15 weeks - actually took him nearly 20 weeks to consume.

Metro Monday, Part II
While we have been getting rain (enough to make the grass grow and so we don't need to water the garden). But the Beaver Pond is drier than we have seen it in a couple of years.

Metro Monday
A six pack of cantaloupe plants were transplanted back in the spring. We pampered and watered. We hoed and weeded. Sarah kept turning the small melons as they grew so they wouldn't rot on the bottom.
After church this evening, we were walking Metro and strode toward the garden.
"You think it's ready?"
"Go ahead and pluck it."
Sarah has already peeled and sliced the cantaloupe and it is cooling in the fridge!

Metro Monday/Thursday
Sunday Night after the first night of Vacation Bible School, I had another gall bladder attack. They will normally last about 2 to 3 hours and then it is done with. Until I eat another heavy/rich meal. We had breakfast for our VBS supper.
Biscuits
Ham
Bacon
Sausage
Saw Mill Gravy
Cheese Grits
Eggs
It hit me hard about 10:00 Sunday night. At 3:00 I was a the hospital E.R. - just after 5:00 I was back home with shot for the pain and orders to see my family doctor.
By 10:30 I was on my way to be admitted to the hospital. Ultrasound, x-rays and bloodwork.
On Tuesday, the surgeon scheduled the removal of my gall bladder.
Wednesday at 3 p.m., I was wheeled to the O.R.

We were fishing on Saturday and Sarah caught NOT A CATFISH!
So again, Metro and I took a Terapin to the Beaver Pond.
