A few of the ties that belong to my Dad.
Other than Special Sundays, I don't remember seeing my Dad in a tie. That all changed when he started working at Lentz Cee Bee in 1968. It began with the little black, clip on bow ties on a white shirt. That was the uniform the he and Howard Allison wore everyday. The merger to long ties was made some years later, but the white shirt remain the standard.
Dad taught me how to tie a tie in all four knots. Windsor, Half Windsor, Shell Knot & Four-in-Hand. I never did master the Shell Knot. Dad's favorite was the Windsor, while I prefer the Four-in-Hand.
When Dad passed away on January 23, 2006, I made sure that the funeral director tie his grey & blue striped tie in a Windsor...
