For preparing for the next season. In years past, I would gather materials and tools. Adding feather and fur, thread and tinsel, hair and hackle - until a new fly was ready for my tippet.
Looking through the fly boxes, I realize that I haven't used the ones that I prepared the last two years. My fishing techniques has turn more toward live bait recently. And my fly rods have gathered more dust than fish. I think it's time to rethink the coming season.
