We have received many a ribbing from our Anniversary date. But it was the most convenient time for us the head to the mountains to get married. We told no one except our parents of our plans. Buddy and Sissy had preceded us with a Smokey Mountain wedding by just a few months and acted as our escorts and our Best Man and Matron of Honor.
We left work Thursday afternoon, with our luggage packed the night before to head for Lawrenceville. Friday would find the foursome heading toward Tennessee. Friday afternoon, we arrived in Pigeon Forge to obtain the license and do a little shopping.
Our time was set for 5:00 p.m. We are early and got to see those before us having their photos taken in the various scenes that were set.
A simple and beautiful ceremony. We had our photos taken and re-dress in more comfortable attire. As we are re-entering Georgia, a GASP! "I forgot my purse!" To this day, Sarah doesn't carry a purse!
This morning, we discovered we shared this date with another couple. One of Sarah's classmates and his wife were married 17 years before us.
